ABSTRACT

Objective To explore an effective method in intervening brain injury syndrome in early stage. Method Eighty patients with brain injury syndrome admitted to Child's Rehabilitation Department of Nanhai Maternity and Child Healthcare Hospital, Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine during January 2016 and December 2016 were enrolled and randomized into a treatment group and a control group, 40 cases each. The control group was intervened by functional training, while the treatment group was intervened by Tong Du Xing Shen (unblocking the Governor Vessel and awakening the mind) needling based on the functional training. The therapeutic efficacy was evaluated by using the Gross Motor Function Measure (GMFM) and Gesell Developmental Scales after 12-week treatment. Result After the treatment, the GMFM and Gesell scores increased after the treatment in both groups to different extent (P<0.05), and the therapeutic efficacy of the treatment group was superior to that of the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion Tong Du Xing Shen needling plus functional training can significantly promote the development of the gross motor function and cognitive function of brain injury patients, and it's an effective intervention method in early stage of brain injury syndrome.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of mind-regulating and kidney-reinforcing acupuncture in treating attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).Methods Fifty-six patients with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder were randomly allocated to treatment and control groups, 28 cases each. The treatment group received mind-regulating and kidney-reinforcing acupuncture and the control group, conventional acupuncture, for a total of 28 days. The American Connell children’s ADHD behavior diagnostic scale and the Chinese version of ADHD SNAP-IV scale-parent form were used as evaluating indicators. The total efficacy rates were compared between the two groups of patients. Results The total efficacy rate was 96.4% in the treatment group and 71.4% in the control group; there was a statistically significant difference between the two groups (P<0.05). There were statistically significant pre-/post-treatment differences in the American Connell children’s ADHD behavior diagnostic scale score and the Chinese version of ADHD SNAP-IV scale-parent form score in the two groups (P<0.05). There were statistically significant post-treatment differences in the American Connell children’s ADHD behavior diagnostic scale score and the Chinese version of ADHD SNAP-IV scale-parent form score between the treatment and control groups (P<0.05). Conclusion Mind-regulating and kidney-reinforcing acupuncture is an effective way to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.

ABSTRACT

@# ObjectiveTo evaluate the effect of early intervention on intellectual development in children with brain injury syndrome. Methods107 children with brain injury syndrome were divided into intervention group (n=73) and observation group (n=34). The intervention group accepted early interventions for mental retardation introduced in child early education manual. Observation group accepted family training. They were followed up once per 1 or 2 months, and assessed with Gesell Developmental Schedules 6 months later. ResultsThere were more children whose adaptability DQ within the normal range (maintained or restored) in the intervention group than in the observation group. ConclusionEarly intervention may decrease the intellectual retardation for children with brain injury syndrome.

ABSTRACT

@#ObjectiveTo evaluate the effect of Rainbow Therapy on brain injury syndrome and cerebral palsy in children.Methods115 children with brain injury syndrome and cerebral palsy were treated by Point Massage Motorpathy (PMM)and patterning. ResultsCompared with control groups, the neurological development quotient (NDQ)of cerebral-palsied children increased by 28.2 in the group A (P<0.01),16.0 in the group B(P<0.01) and 18.7 in the group C(P<0.01) after 6 months therapy. The group A was significantly higher than that of the gruop B and C (P<0.01). Conclusions The Rainbow Therapy is effective for brain injury syndrome and cerebral palsy in children. It is important that the treatment should be started as early as possible. It is a convenient method that can be carried out at home.
